How Do I Know If Therapy Is Suitable For Me?

Below are some of the questions people often ask:

Is therapy only for people who are depressed?

Most people are surprised when they find out that therapy isn't only for people who are ill! People from a wide-range of backgrounds engage in therapy, and find it positive and affirming.

How will therapy help me grow?

This is so important. Good therapy enables personal growth and is empowering. It is a partnership between you and the therapist and is formulated to meet your goals and aspirations.

Isn't therapy very expensive?

It needn't be! It takes time and considerable resources to train a therapist, and that's reflected in the rates I offer. However, therapy is very much an investment in ourselves, our wellbeing, and our future, so it's worth it!

Also, I do offer reduced rates for students, those on low incomes, etc.

Online or in-person therapy?

I currently offer online sessions only (normally of 50 mins duration). This enables me to be fully flexible and to work around your schedule/time zone.

Studies have shown that online therapy can be very effective, and that's why I offer this popular and expanding service.

What Conditions Do I Work With?

The first thing I would say is that my focus is on enabling my clients to reach their goals. That may of course mean working with specific issues. In that respect I have experience in working with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, bipolar disorder, and trauma (PTSD and Complex PTSD).

I work with clients facing life challenges such as loss of meaning in life, career choices, relationship issues, bereavement, and living with chronic/life-limiting conditions.

Of course we are all complex, so these issues tend not to come in neat packages. That's why I take time with clients to establish the breadth and scope of their life experiences. No two clients have the same mix of therapies, and the process is always dynamic and responsive to evolving demands and new issue arising.
