One of the aims of the Viktor Frankl Centre Northern Ireland is to build a community of people interested in the application of Logotherapy & Existential Analysis, a meaning-based philosophy of life. The Book Group is one of the means of doing that, and you can join us from anywhere in the world, regardless of your background.

Please see the information below from our book group facilitator, Jen Caligari; if you are interested in joining us (and I very much hope you are!), please contact her directly:

Dear all,

A quick reminder that our first Logotherapy Book Group meeting is this Sunday, 9th November 2025 at 7pm (GMT). I’m really looking forward to gathering with you.  The Zoom link for joining is at the bottom of this email.

You’re warmly welcome whether you’ve read When Breath Becomes Air in full, dipped in, or haven’t had the chance to pick it up at all — I’ve reattached the brief summary of the book so everyone can take part comfortably if they wish, as well as the reflective discussion questions we’ll draw on during the session.  We certainly won't cover all of these and may stray beyond them, depending on where the discussion takes us. There’s no expectation to prepare; the questions are simply for those who like a little time to think ahead.

A couple of practical notes:

  • Please feel free to arrive a few minutes early to settle in and check sound/video.  We will start promptly at 7pm GMT and I will open the meeting for joining at 6:45pm.

  • We'll ask that all microphones are muted aside from the person who is sharing a reflection to avoid disruptions from background noise.  You'll be able to indicate that you have something you'd like to add and we'll make sure that everyone who would like to share has the chance to do so.

  • Cameras on or off are fine -- however you feel most comfortable.

  • We'll be inviting suggestions for future books and volunteers to facilitate the session relating to their chosen book (with as much or as little support as you might require to do so), so you may wish to consider ahead of time a book you think would elicit a rich and meaningful discussion.  Again, no pressure to contribute in this way if you don't wish to.

  • If you’d like to receive optional pre-meeting reflections in future, you can drop a line to logotherapybookgroup@gmail.com on an ad hoc basis or ask to be added to mailings about all future sessions.

Looking ahead, I’ll email the next book choice on Wednesday 12th November, so there’s plenty of time to read before our December meeting on Sunday 14th December. Future sessions will be held on the second Sunday of every month.

Most importantly: you’re free to share as much or as little as feels right for you on the night. Listening quietly is just as welcome as speaking. The aim is simply that everyone feels comfortable, respected, and included.

See you on Sunday,Jen Caligari
